As mentioned previously, production has been officially announced on the Bettie Page movie biography "The Ballad of Bettie Page". The Bettie Page film stars Gretchen Mol as Bettie Page, directed by Mary Harron, and written by Mary Harron and Guinivere Turner. The HBO film also stars Lili Taylor, David Strathairn, Jonathan M. Woodward, Cara Seymour, Tara Subkoff, and Kevin Carroll.

The March issue of The Advocate.com includes a conversation between filmmaker Kevin Smith and actress Guin Turner. In the conversation between old friends, Smith asks for an update on Turner's involvement in the HBO Bettie Page film project based on her screenplay:

"The Bettie Page movie is going to be in preproduction soon - like, April. Gretchen Mol is going to play Bettie Page; HBO is doing it." - Guin Turner

This seems to confirm the casting of Gretchen Mol as Bettie Page in the project, although official details from HBO will probably not be released until after preproduction begins next month.

The latest Bettie Page film rumors have actress Gretchen Mol set to play Bettie Page in the upcoming HBO bio film "The Ballad of Bettie Page". According to the film industry trade journal Production Weekly, Mol has the role in the Killer Film production, and is due to start filming this April in New York. Long attached "Ballad" screenwriter and actress Guin Turner may take a smaller role in the movie as Bettie Page's sister.
